The Los Angeles Gay Wedding of Andrew and Robert | posted by sara
Andrew and Robert met at Occidental College where the Glee Club and music brought them together. They have since lived in several cities throughout the U.S and Scotland, both together and apart. Robert proposed to Andrew in Scotland and after over nine years together Robert and Andrew tied the knot on August 4, 2012. What better place to get married, but where it all started, at Occidental!
The ceremony took place at Herrick Memorial Chapel surrounded by close friends and family. Robert’s organ instructor at Oxy served as organist, a fellow conducting student with Robert served as choirmaster, and a choir of 18 sang. Robert’s best friend and Andrew’s sister served as maids of honor and celebrants. The ceremony included a Scottish handfasting led by their maids of honor. This was the first time Ryan and I had seen this ritual, and we thought it was really cool and unique.
We loved photographing Andrew and Robert’s portraits around the beautiful, picturesque campus of Occidental. They got to revisit spots that hold special memories and meaning to them. We were really able to witness and capture so much emotion during this time. It really was an awesome experience, not just for them, but for Ryan and I as well.
The reception was held at the nearby Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock. This place is located in a gorgeous historic 1914 library building. We got the most amazing early evening sun rays coming through the windows in this place!
Food was provided by Soho Taco. These were seriously some of the best tacos we’ve ever had and that is no exaggeration. Their corn tortillas were made on the spot (so delicious)!
Cindy Pham of Mad Love Events coordinated. Her and her crew were amazing, super friendly, and extremely helpful. We hope to work with her again!
We wish Andrew and Robert nothing but the best. We are so happy we got to share their day with them and now share their photos with you!
