This session is especially near and dear to my heart and Im so excited to share it! This is my oldest and best friend, Cindy, and her beautiful family!
I met Cindy when I was ten years old through a mutual friend. Cindy broke her am at my house (she tripped over a trampoline, ouch!) and I took her a gift a few days later because I felt so bad about it! From that point on we were pretty much attached at the hip. We survived middle school together, which was spent mostly prank calling, toilet papering people’s houses, and playing the Ouija board.
When we were fifteen Cindy and her family moved to Arizona. I was devastated but through phone calls, good old fashioned letters, and occasional weekend trips, we stayed friends.
As friends sometimes do Cindy and I drifted apart, and then together again, and then apart again through the years. Though we grew to be completely different from each other we always managed to stay in touch and still remain friends. We both had our tough times and our times where we didn’t make time for each other, but there’s always been a sisterly bond there.
In 2010 Cindy’s mom passed away from ovarian cancer and that was the moment for me when I wished I could have gone back and been there all those years. I felt like I’d lost part of my own family. So after ten years of not seeing Cindy (though we had always kept in touch) we reunited at her mom’s memorial service. I vowed then to once again be there as much as I could.
Cindy and I have become closer since her mother’s passing and we see each other a few times a year now. I really do think Cindy and I will remain friends our whole lives and she really is family to me.
So enough about me and here is Cindy, Brett, Kelsey, Malorie and Brandon’s story!
Cindy and Brett met through a mutual friend in 2008. Cindy was freaked out to start dating again but once she met Brett all of that went out the window. They were the perfect match and she knew right away that this was the guy she was meant to be with (I approve, Brett is awesome).
Kelsey (she’s the oldest, with the glasses) is Cindy’s daughter from a previous marriage and Malorie and Brandon are Brett’s children from a previous marriage. Cindy and Kelsey moved from Arizona to Las Vegas and now they are all one big awesome family (along with a cat, and two dogs).
We visited Cindy and Brett recently in Las Vegas. We did a mini session at an old train station in the nearby town of Boulder, NV. They were all troopers since it was freezing outside. They’ll be the first ones to tell you that they are all a little obsessed with mustaches. They came up with the idea for the mustaches (and we loved it!).
I absolutely love these photos!
Here’s Cindy and I at 13 on Halloween, at 15, and at 30 (in 2010). We’re both natural gingers!
Love you guys!
