My grandmother had lived in her house for 52 years and raised her four children there. Now 88, widowed, and with Alzheimer’s disease the time came for my grandmother to move into a new home.
I spent a large portion of my childhood in my Grandmothers home and have many fond memories of times spent there. As the time came to say goodbye to her house and all the memories it holds I realized it’s the little details I’ll remember and miss the most. I’ll never forget the cute wallpaper, curtains and small decorations that had not changed over the years. She was very active with her church and I always remember loving her ornate rosaries as a kid. My Grandmother was a seamstress her whole life. There were always buttons, thread, fabric, patterns, and cute little pin cushions around. There was always the sound of a sewing machine in the background…
The last photo is my Grandmother at her new home, which is a board and care home where she lives with just a few other women. She loves her new home and now has constant care and people to spend her days with. I have not seen her this content in a long time…
